Osborne is committed to reducing the impact of its operations on the environment, and in line with this the group Board has agreed a CO2 strategy to help us reduce our carbon footprint.
The greatest volume of carbon emissions created in Osborne are the miles we drive in going about our daily business. We intend to reduce our mileage and our office energy consumption and also the carbon emissions of our legacy - the structures, buildings and homes that we construct. We are actively engaged in this on the front line with our Homes Division working to meet level 5 requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes on a SIPs (structural insulated panels) affordable housing development for Raven Housing Trust in West Surrey.
We have calculated the amount of carbon that results from the miles we drive and, added to the energy used in running our offices, converted this to a cash fund known as the Osborne Carbon Offset Fund. We are actively looking at ways in which the fund can be invested to reduce our carbon footprint.
The fund is available for Osborne staff to apply to and we are also open to ideas from outside the company. If you have any practical ideas or suggestions, then please contact us at enquiries@osborne.co.uk
